The Ants and the Grasshopper

  We have been reading the story of The Ants and the Grasshopper which is a fable.A fable is a short story with animals that are given human like qualities and it teaches you a lesson. 


Find specific information

1.what bush creatures are included in this story?

ant,grasshopper,wasp,huhu grubs,weta.



2. What did the grasshopper do during the first

summer of the story? Lay in the sun and make

music.



3.what services did the grasshopper provide the

ant over the winter? Served food,watched them

when they slept and fixed the holes in the roof.


4.How did the huhu grubs pay the grasshopper?

They paid him in food.








Find the moral 

5.The moral of the story is that the grasshopper

learnt his lesson and to fight for himself and

prepare for next winter and it teaches us to work

hard so you're prepared for hard times.

Why has the author chosen to make the ants

speak in short sentences and give brief replies?

Because they are small animals that don't talk a

lot and they are too busy working.

1.Why did the grasshopper decide to charge the

huhu grubs for making music for them? So he

can get ready for the next winter and to give half

of the food to the ants and so he has lots of food

next winter.



2.Why did the ants sigh at the grasshopper?

They wanted him to learn a lesson because he

didn’t listen when they said to gather resources.








3.Why did the grasshopper ask the huhu grubs to

give some food to the ant’s? Because the ants

kept him alive over winter.




4.What elements of the fable did this story use?

It made the characters seem like  humans and it

taught us a lesson .

Bigfoot

 bigfoot

A big,furry shadow loomed out from the darkness on two legs in the damp woods but it was not a man. I was terrified for my life. I got to the ground and hid behind a log. It was getting closer. Luckily, I had a shotgun. It jumped over the log and  turned around. I shot it BANG! It ran as fast as it could. It was so tall it was like 10 feet tall. I ran to my truck. My truck was big. I saw it again as it was crossing the road. It was bleeding a lot so I revved my truck and did a burnout.  I let the brake go and I was going to hit that thing BOOM.  After I hit it, I got my shotgun. I got out of my truck  and it was dead. I got back into my truck and went home. Luckily I live in the bush so no one saw the blood on the front of my truck. I washed my truck and went to bed… In the morning I went to see if the dead thing was still there. Omg there is another one and it was WAY! taller. It was dragging the other one off the road. I did a drift around and went to the police station. The police did nothing and they thought I was crazy. I went back out there. I found  a family of 4. I saw the one I killed and I went back home and researched what they are. I found out  they are bigfoots. How many are there I don't know. I need to get rid of them so I went back there.   

I saw 5 including the dead one,and then one came running at me and hit my truck. I turned my truck around  and I put my foot to the floor. My truck leaped forward and they were too slow. I went to the woods and set 4 big bear traps. In the morning I went to see the traps. Omg I caught all of them so I got my truck and put them in the back of the truck. I drove into town and went to the police station and told them I am not crazy and went home and put them in a coffin and  buried them in my backyard then I went to bed.

 Last week we had a force and motion day called Topana and neke. On this say we learnt new things about force and motion. The day involved the whole school did a rotation around the school we done 3 experiments in different classes.

Digital technology matariki project -blue bots and QR codes

For Matariki we learnt about the stars. We made a special blue bot mat. On the mat we had QR codes and when you scanned them you learnt about the stars. The kids had to code the blue bots to get to the QR codes. We learnt that there are nine stars in the cluster and that each star has its own name and something that it is connected to like the sea or the weather.

Lockdown Letter

Dear Mrs Robins and Room 7  


My life is different as I am not able to go
to School and see my friends and teachers.

I would normally go to my friend
Hayden’s house and stay the night and
go swimming and play in the bush
out the back of his place. You are
not allowed to go for a drive like myself
and family normally do, also i can’t ride
my motorbike down at the beach. We
were able to move into our cool new
house before lockdown and also play
in the big paddock next door riding my push bikes. 
Being able to use my chromebook at home,have a wee turn on the playstation when my older brother lets me lol. I haven’t really done my reading over the holidays and while I have been in lockdown we have been doing alot of hut building, going for long bike rides and getting lots of ice cream out on our bike rides. I've watched lots of movies plus tv programs. I like lots and lots of movies. Fast and furious is a really great movie as it has lots of awesome car’s I want when I get older. Myself,my brother Marshall and my mum have done a lot of baking. We made cheese muffins,chocolate cake,pancakes. They were yummy. My brother and I have made lots of huts to sleep in at night inside plus a few outside they were cool and fun to play in. I have learned a lot while I have been in lockdown. Our new neighbours are very nice people and they shared their tomatoes with us. I enjoy playing with my brother Marshall more plus my mum is really good at making pancakes and muffins. I do miss school
